Thy Whisky Distillery Edition - Cask 292, 3 YO, 59.6 %

“This cask was carefully selected by an international tasting panel among seven casks from the leading vintage of barrels distilled at our new distillery at Gyrup in 2019-2020”.

I am happy to say that I took part in this event.

The grain used in the production was 100 % Odyssey barley. The malts used were pale malt, caramel malt and Münich malt. The 1st fill ex-PX hogshead (cask #292) was filled 2019-08-13, and the whisky was bottled in April 2023. Limited to 250 bottles. See more on the official product page.

Nose: Fruit cocktail drizzled with dark chocolate bits, and served with a side order of Espresso Martini. Honey cake, soaked through with rich orange notes and a hint of mint.

Taste: Rich, full, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, PX notes also now. Again the espresso from the nose.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Coffee again and very rich honey with herbs and jam and chocolate.

Comment: Wild and exciting!
