The Glenlivet Pittandlich
The Glenlivet Pittandlich, 15 YO, 59.9 %
This is an exciting bottling. Early this year I tried the Coupar Angus single cask from The Glenlivet, and really enjoyed it. Here is a new release in that series; The Glenlivet Pittandlich. It was matured in a bourbon cask (cask #5433), and was bottled in December 2016. The total outturn was 246 bottles.
The Glenlivet Pittandlich will be available to buy in Norway starting December 15 at NOK 1912 (8086001).
Nose: Tons of lovely bourbon cask influence here. Vanilla, coconut flakes, and soft spices. Green grass and a touch of mint. In this case I actually get a positive experience from adding a few drops of water. Quite unusual for me. It opens up and becomes more fruity (orchard fruits) and the sweetness settles and comes across as more balanced.
Taste: Very rich mouthfeel. Greener now, the notes of mint and cut grass more obvious. Pepper, vanilla and notes of green apples. With water it gets softer and even richer. Honey is now also added to the orchestra of aromas.
Finish: Medium long finish. Slightly dry. Vanilla, mild fruitiness and peppermint. Right at the end I get notes of bubblegum.
Comments: Another great single cask release from The Glenlivet.
