This is actually the first time I have reviewed a whisky from Pittyvaich on my blog. This Speyside distillery was fairly shortlived, operating between 1974 and 1993.
The sales price for the Pittyvaich 1989 25 YO (Special Releases 2015) in Norway will be NOK 2800 (3405901). You can still pick it up in the UK at around GBP 208.
Nose: Rich and deep nose. Sugary with notes of old and refined oak. Vanilla sauce, freshly baked cinnamon buns, and a soft maltiness.
Taste: Medium body and creamy mouthfeel. White pepper, vanilla sauce and soft fruitiness. A touch dry with some oakiness. Is that a whiff of smoke in the background?
Finish: Medium to long finish. Oaky spiciness still. Sweet and dry-ish. A soft bitterness - a touch astringent.
Comments: A fine, old bourbon matured whisky.
