The Highland Park Single Cask Vintersolsnu is another single cask exclusive for Norway from the Orkney distillery Highland Park. In January they released the Norway exclusive Highland Park Single Cask Chris Maile Edition, which was lovely. Now they come out with this 'winter solstice' edition (Vintersolsnu).
The Highland Park Single Cask Vintersolsnu was distilled in 2001, matured in an European oak sherry butt (cask #651), and bottled in 2017. The total outturn was 588 bottles.

Nose: Sherry bomb incoming! Super rich nose - Scrooge McDuck rich. Deep caramel, heather honey, and dried fruits. A thin veil of smoke and warm spices linger in the back. Minty overtones. There is more 'green' here as well - maybe pine needles. A touch of oak.
Taste: Very rich and full. Quite fruity - dried (raisins and figs) and fresh (apples of various kinds). Peppery and fiery in a good way.
Finish: Medium to long finish. Caramelized honey and ripe apples. Heather meadows on fire in the distance. Deep sherry notes all the way.
Comments: Another win from Highland Park! May they never stop releasing these single cask, cask strength expressions.
