This is the 2021 release of the Old Pulteney 25 YO. I have previously reviewed the 2017 release (see review). It has been matured in American oak casks, and then finished in Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry butts.

Nose: The aroma captivates with a well-balanced medley of fruity scents. Ripe apple, fresh mandarin orange, and pineapple make a delightful appearance, while a subtle dusty and softly oaky backdrop complements the fruitiness. Hints of sea salt and creamy vanilla round it all out.

Taste: The palate is full-bodied and rich, showcasing the characteristic maritime notes Old Pulteney is known for. A delicate touch of salt enhances the elegant and comprehensive fruitiness, featuring citrus as well as ripe apple and pear flavors.

Finish: The long finish maintains its fruit-forward character throughout, with a whisper of salt and white pepper adding depth. Dark chocolate and a touch of oakiness emerge, while the finish becomes increasingly dry. Refreshing notes of cool menthol and cut grass in the end.

Comment: Truly terrific!
