Another Travel Retail exclusive Octomore. The Octomore 9.2 is a vintage 2012 whisky which was released in 2018. It is peated to 156 ppm and a total of 12000 bottles were released.

Here are the details on the casks used (from the official product page):

“this muscular liquid has spent four years maturing in ex-American oak casks before being re-casked into the finest French oak. Carefully selected from the Bordeaux region”

Nose: Heavily peated, for sure. But also earthy, red wine notes, bordering on dunnage warehouse with a whiff of well-worn Wellingtons.

Taste: Full bodied and rather sweet and dry. Heavy on the earthy wood smoke. White pepper. Vanilla and dark caramel. Overall earthy and dry.

Finish: Medium long finish. In the end red wine tannins and oaky astringency.

Comment: A prospectors wilderness wood-fire!
