New whisky releases Norway - November 2015

A total of 47 whiskies are released in the monopoly stores of Norway on Friday November 6, at 8 am. A few of the listed whiskies are just new sizes of previously released products; notably the Remarkable Regional Malts from Douglas Laing. These new 5 cl bottles will make it easy for anyone curious to try these whiskies, but reluctant to spend the money on a full size bottle. I do hope we will see more miniature bottles at Vinmonopolet with time. It is a bit difficult to list recommendations this time around, as there is a wealth of choice, and many very good and/or very tempting whiskies. BenRiach is always exciting, Box Whisky are represented with releases two and three from their Early Days Collection, and a few of the Diageo Special Releases 2015 are here - with insane prices, as expected.

The new Norwegian whisky from Det Norske Brenneri - Eiktyrne - finally gets a release! Exciting new releases from Springbank and Arran. Scapa is extending their core range with Skiren - yet another sign that this is a distillery waking form a very long slumber (more on Scapa here).

I have to give a special mention to the GlenDronach Single Cask 2003 Norsk Whiskyforbund. I participated in selecting this cask myself. It was matured for eight years in 1st fill bourbon before receiving a four year finish in a Barolo cask.
