This is the third of four Mackmyra whiskies released for the German market in 2017. They have all been finished in Rotspon casks from the von Have vineyard. They have all been named to honor famous Swedish women.
The Mackmyra Hedda Rotspon Double Wood is a peated whisky, and has its name from Hedda Andersson 1861-1950, the second female student at Lund University and the second female doctor in Sweden with a university degree. This release is limited to 423 bottles.
Nose: Green smoke and heavy sugary sweetness. Vanilla and strange, smoky wine notes.
Taste: Full bodied, bullish and overly sweet. Green - cut grass and green herbs. Bitter-ish. Oaky. Juniper. Pine wood smoke.
Finish: Short finish. Dies away fairly quickly and goes out with a sweet whimper. Artificial sweetener.
Comment: Not for the faint of heart.
