Ichiro's Malt Double Distilleries
Ichiro's Malt Double Distilleries, NAS, 46 %
My husband has written about our trip to Chichibu distillery the summer of 2014. We had such a great time there. After we finished the tour of the distillery, it was nice to spend time at the Visitor Center, tasting whiskies.
I tasted Ichiro's Malt Double Distilleries for the first time. This is a blended malt made from sherry matured Hanyu single malt, and Chichibu single malt matured in Japanese oak.
It is available in Norway. The price is NOK 1 299,99 (item number 364001).
Nose (23/25): At first very fruity. A lot of apples and pears. Then the smell turned more fresh with a hint of camphor and 'Kongen av Danmark' (hard candy). Some oakiness, but very gentle.
Taste (22/25): The taste is sweet and fruity. After a few sips I can taste caramel. In the end there is som citrus.
Finish (21/25): A bit dry in the finish, but at the same time fresh. There is camphor, salt and citrus.
Balance (22/25): The whisky started off quite fruity. Then the character changes a lot, but still a well balanced whisky.
Score (88/100)
