An old Glenkinchie is one of the standouts of the Diageo Special Releases 2023. Matured in refill American and European oak barrels and butts.
The Glenkinchie 27 YO - The Floral Treasure is now finally available to buy in Norway at NOK 4025 (17033301). Which, by the way, is a fairly decent prize point for a 27 YO single malt Scotch in this day and age.
Nose: Initially a bit rough with a slight alcohol bite, but soon reveals orchard fruits and floral notes. Over time, vanilla, hints of orange zest, and a touch of Tiger Balm emerge.
Taste: Full-bodied and attention-grabbing, this whisky makes a lasting impression. It is very intense and complex, featuring notes of orchard fruits, citrus, honey, and chocolate, along with gentle oak spices.
Finish: Very long, with oaky spices turning almost fizzy, dancing on the tongue. Floral notes and green herbs appear, followed by a hint of menthol and eucalyptus at the finish line.
Comment: Intense and captivating from start to finish!
