I have finally had a chance to try (most of) the Diageo Special Releases 2023. First off this Lagavulin which has been finished in ex-Don Julio Añejo Tequila casks.

The Lagavulin 12 YO - The Ink of Legends is now finally available to buy in Norway at NOK 2157 (17033101).

Nose: A quiet introduction with distant wood smoke, vanilla notes with a slight edge, and a briny, malty, citrusy backdrop.

Taste: Full-bodied and bold, it hits the palate with powerful waves of earthy and dirty peat smoke. Spicy and almost raw, it transitions to notes of salt and barbecue.

Finish: Medium-long, dominated by big peaty notes and a peppery intensity. Undertones of barbecued meat and smoky bacon, drying and warming towards the end.

Comment: Lagavulin de los Muertos? A smoky, bold experience.
