Here is a fresh new release from the west coast wonder that is Ardnamurchan Distillery. The official product page states the following about this release:

“Bourbon casks from early 2018 were filled with a roughly 60/40 ratio of unpeated to peated spirit, then re-racked into Madeira casks for two years. These casks were vatted just prior to reaching 7 years old and bottled, yielding just under 19,000 bottles in this batch.”

The Ardnamurchan AD/Madeira Cask Release will be available to buy in Norway this May.

Nose: Fresh, malty and deeply fruity. A rich mix of dried fruits and juicy, wine-like notes. A pinch of salt adds brightness. With time, it turns sooty and mildly peated.

Taste: Full bodied and impressively focused. Big on flavor. Those massive wine notes dominate at first; soft, sweet, fruity and beautifully complex. Classic Madeira charm. The mouthfeel is juicy and luscious, like chocolate confectionery with a sooty jam center.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Becomes more peaty and sooty as it develops. Still juicy and sweet, but ends firmly in peated whisky territory.

Comment: Delightfully complex and fun.
