The Dublin Liberties 5 YO Oak Devil
The Dublin Liberties 5 YO Oak Devil, 5 YO, 46 %
My second ever review of a whiskey from The Dublin Liberties Distillery. The distillery, cleverly located in Dublin, and in the Liberties section of town - I mean - given the name - right? - clever?, was established 2018. Hence all their products so far are sourced whiskey, not their own production. The whiskey is most likely produced at Cooley Distillery.
This particular product is a blended Irish whiskey matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks.
The Dublin Liberties 5 YO Oak Devil is available in Norway at NOK 695 (13449601).
Nose: Banana, oak, vanilla and orchard fruits. Rather Even Steven, this one. Cherry chewing gum.
Taste: Medium body. Sugary sweet and with lots of bitter-ish oakiness - I’m thinking both spices and astringency.
Finish: Short finish. Bland and watery. Caramel and vanilla. Wet planks - in fact a sawmill in heavy rain. Towards the end a distinct note of cherry jam.
Comment: Not quite my cup of cherries - eh whiskey. Oh, and where the devil is the devil?
