This Teeling expression was initially matured in ex-bourbon casks for 18 years, and then finished for 18 months in ex-Australian Shiraz casks (wine casks). You’d think this would result in a 19 YO whisky, but a tiny portion of the liquid is “only” 18 years old.
The Teeling The Renaissance Series No. 2 18 YO Australian Shiraz is a release limited to 9000 bottles.
The few bottles that made their way to Norway sold out immediately. It might still be available in Sweden at SEK 1499 (83059), and online at around € 140.
Nose: Fruity with hints of dust, camphor and malt. Orchard fruits and dried fruits in a nice mix. Vanilla, tomato plant and herbs. Dry-ish licorice.
Taste: Medium body. More spicy than the Sommelier Sauternes - white pepper and fizzy ginger. Cinnamon and juicy tropical fruit.
Finish: Medium to long finish. Light and fruity throughout.
