Teeling 12 YO The Revival Volume V
Teeling 12 YO The Revival Volume V, 46 %
The Revival Series from Teeling Distillery in Ireland was launched in 2015, and they have since released a new volume every 6 months. This Teeling 12 YO The Revival Volume V is the youngest release in the series and is also to be the final one. This product was released just recently. I have previously had a closer look at volume II and volume IV.
The official blurb for the Teeling 12 YO The Revival Volume V goes like this:
"The fifth bottling of The Revival consists of 12-Year-Old Single Malt that was aged initially in ex-Bourbon barrels before being finished in a combination of Cognac and Brandy barrels [..]. Limited to just 15,000 bottles."
You can still pick up bottles of the Teeling 12 YO The Revival Volume V at around € 120 online.
Nose: Oooh, light and fluffy in a very good way. Vanilla, nuts, grape juice and hints of citrus. Notes of Orchard fruits linger in the back.
Taste: Rich and full-bodied. Malty with ripe, red apples and vanilla. Again some grape juice. Milk chocolate and white pepper.
Finish: Medium long finish. Towards the end I detect a soft oakiness in the form of almonds and unsalted peanuts. Sweetness in the form of marzipan and honey. A light spiciness with nutmeg and cinnamon. Dry, dark chocolate.
Comments: Another fine Summer whiskey. Sad to see the end of the Revival Series, but in August this year we can welcome the very first whiskey distilled and matured at Teeling's own distillery in Dublin. Must get my ass over to Ireland again soon to visit them!
