Nordic whisky #242 - Stauning Peated 7th Edition
Stauning Peated 7th Edition, ~6 YO, 48,4 %
Here’s a little peated thing from Danish distillery Stauning. This whisky was distilled back in 2012, and bottled in May 2018, which makes it around 6 years old.
The Stauning Peated 7th Edition is long sold out in Denmark, but there are still a few bottles available in Norway at NOK 1584 (0555802).
Nose: Smells like freshly baked bread. Toasted and yummy crust. Saw mill, and a touch green herbs. Medium peat, I would say. Fruits and vanilla. A really lovely nose.
Taste: Medium body. Vanilla. Toast with orange marmalade. Carnation. Not very peaty, but pleasantly so.
Finish: Medium long finish. Unfortunately a bit watery and boring on the finish.
Comment: Really, really enjoy the nose on this dram. Give it a few more years and we’ll see if the palate matches then nose. Then we will have a stunner of a dram in hand.
