Today I get to review a new expression from the whisky lords of Campbeltown, Springbank Distillery.

The Springbank Rum Wood 15 YO was distilled in December 2003, and bottled in August 2019. It was matured in rum barrels, and the total outturn of this limited run is 9000 bottles.

You can buy the Springbank Rum Wood 15 YO in Norway starting Thursday this week at NOK 1310 (11343601).

Nose: Rich, dark, and mysterious. Rum notes for sure. Dark fruits and red berries. Earthy notes. A bit salty, with mild wood smoke rounding it all off beautifully.

Taste: Rich and dark again. Full bodied and medium sweet. Fruits and vanilla, and a touch green in the back. Hints of farmyard (yay!), pepper and sugar. Bonfire in the back.

Finish: Long and lingering finish. Dark chocolate, coffee, rum , pepper, hints of salt and soft wood smoke.

Comnment: What’s not to love here?!
