This is the fourth release in the modern Local Barley series from Springbank Distillers. The previous versions being the Springbank Local Barley 16 YO (2016), Springbank Local Barley 11 YO (2017) and Springbank Local Barley 10 YO (2017).

The Springbank 9 YO Local Barley was made using optic barley from High Cattadale Farm. It has been matured in 80 % bourbon casks and 20 % sherry casks. It was distilled in July 2009 and bottled in October 208, with a total outturn of 9700 bottles.

The Springbank 9 YO Local Barley will be available to buy in Norway this Thursday at NOK 1310 (1343201).

Nose: Malt, and rich on the nose. Cereals and biscuits, but not particularly sweet. Hints of honey and citrus. Some wood smoke.

Taste: Medium body. Again malty and rich. A bit green around the edges - herbal. The honey and citrus follow through. Bitter-ish touch of oak and a whiff of smoke.

Finish: Medium long finish. Green and malty. Vanilla, ginger, honey, sweet licorice, toasted oak and a touch of wood smoke.

Comment: Young and vibrant! We want more!
