An independent bottling from Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) today. Distillery 64 is Mannochmore, a work horse distillery established in 1970 and owned by Diageo. Mannochmore is the signature malt in the Haig blended whisky.
A fun fact, if you are a whisky nerd, is that Mannochmore is located at the same site as Glenlossie, which is also owned by Diageo.
The SMWS 64.106 Loch Blanc was distilled on 2006-09-13. It was matured in a refill ex-bourbon hogshead. The total outturn was 270 bottles.
Nose: Notes of a fruity and rich white wine. Vanilla and white chocolate. White pepper and hints of a lush green house in the background.
Taste: Rich and full bodied. Plenty pepper upfront. Malty, with citrus, vanilla and ginger.
Finish: Medium long finish. Quite fresh all the way. Peppermint, wet leaves and citrus.
Comment: Fresh with appealing notes of white wine.
