SMWS 100.15 Danish pastries and pickled ginger
SMWS 100.15 Danish pastries and pickled ginger, 26 YO, 50.8 %
Here is a whisky produced at the Strathmill Distillery. It was distilled 1991-05-10, and then matured for 26 years in a refill bourbon hogshead. The cask yielded 234 bottles.
This whisky was bottled by independent bottler Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS).
Nose: Dusty strawberries and earthy vanilla. Rich and deep fruitiness. Hints of bitter oak. Citrus in the background. With time great grandma’s perfume.
Taste: Rich and full bodied. Floral honey and white pepper. A little “dirty”, but delightful. Ginger flavoured engine oil.
Finish: Long and creamy finish. White pepper still. Caramel and butterscotch. Teasing hints of funkiness. Rather fruity - orchard fruits mainly. Bitter orange marmalade and sawdust right at the end.
Comment: Ooh, I seem to have a weak spot for old Strathmill.
