OK then, here’s my third review of whiskey from Reservoir Distillery, Virginia. This time I have tried a bourbon. The Reservoir Distillery 2 YO Bourbon - batch 1 is a limited release of 963 bottles.

The cool thing here is that this bourbon is made from three single grain mashbill whiskeys, which you can try individually. I have already reviewed the corn and the wheat. There’s also a 100 % rye available.

You can buy the Reservoir Distillery 2 YO Bourbon - batch 1 at around GBP 55.

Nose: Delightful and generous. All the goodness from the corn and the wheat (haven't tried the rye, unfortunately); corn sweetness, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, toasted oak and caramel chocolate.

Taste: Full bodied and mellow mouthfeel. Pepper, caramel and perfume up front. The perfume notes are mild though, so no worries. I also detect red berries and vanilla ice cream.

Finish: Medium long. Still a touch of perfume and floral notes. Love the mix of mild pepper and dark caramel coming together towards the end.

Comment: Very well balanced. A fine bourbon.

Score 87/100
