Myken Trondheim Whiskyfestival 10-årsjubileum
Myken Trondheim Whiskyfestival 10-årsjubileum, 4 YO, 54.7%
The Myken Trondheim Whiskyfestival 10-årsjubileum was über-limited at 39 bottles, only available to attendees of the Trondheim Whiskyfestival 2024 that signed up at the Myken Distillery stand in person. Produced using Norwegian kveik, and matured in a 30L ex-bourbon cask for four and a half year.
Nose: The initial impression is of fizzy bourbon-barrel notes with a touch of booziness, mingling with rough-edged tropical fruits, creamy vanilla, and milk chocolate. As it evolves, more oranges and the sweetness of strawberry ice cream come forward, rounded off by malty undertones and a dash of white pepper.
Taste: Medium to full-bodied, with a playful roughness. The profile is somewhat dry, marked by astringency and pepperiness, evoking images of pencil shavings and ungraded term papers. The spiciness is nuanced with white and a hint of rosé pepper.
Finish: Medium to short, echoing the initial flavors before transitioning to hints of a classic gin and tonic, perhaps reminiscent of Myker Arctic Summer Gin. It concludes with creamy vanilla and dry touches of pepper and oak.
Comment: Charmingly youthful.
