This is the fourth of the six whiskies in the Mackmyra Privus Series. These whiskies were released for sale back in 2007 and 2008.
The Mackmyra Privus:04 Rätta virket was a limited release of 1000 bottles (50 cl). It was bottled on 2008-01-28.
This is again a peated expression, just like the 03. Mackmyra peat the malt themselves, using smoke from smoldering juniper brush.
The Mackmyra Privus:04 Rätta virket was matured for three years in 200 litre ex-bourbon barrels, and then finished for a year in virgin Swedish oak casks.
Nose: Again rather sweet - oaky sweetness. Honey and cinnamon. Artificial sweetener. Smoky - green wood smoke - but not as smoky as the 03 in my book. Almost Islay like in style on the nose.
Taste: Medium to full body. It certainly does deliver on the smokiness on the palate. Rich chocolate wood smoke. Ginger beer. Vanilla and hints of tropical fruits. Still a bit too raw and young.
Finish: Medium long finish. Rich and sweet licorice now. Ginger and citrus.
Comment: This is rather good. Love the finish on this one.
