The Kentucky Owl Maighstir Edition is the result of a collaboration between John Rhea, Kentucky Owl’s master blender, and Maureen Robinson, retired master blender from Diageo / Johnnie Walker. The objective was to make a bourbon from a Scottish viewpoint.
The Kentucky Owl Maighstir Edition goes on sale in Norway next week at NOK 1850 (18740601).
Nose: Darker and richer than the Kentucky Owl Takumi, with pronounced oak and caramel, layered with oaky spices that add depth.
Taste: Full-bodied, leaning much darker than the Kentucky Owl Takumi. Notes of dark chocolate, mild pepper, and deep oaky undertones mingle with dried fruits and dark fudge.
Finish: Medium to long, maintaining a rich, dark sweetness, with a final touch of chewy sweetness reminiscent of gum.
Comment: Brooding and complex.
