Here we are then, with the fourth release for shareholders from Swedish distillery Gotland Whisky - the Isle of Lime Vardbjärg Shareholders Edition IV.

Where previous three releases have been matured in mainly 1st fill bourbon barrels, this release has been matured in virgin American oak only. The age of the whisky that went into the Isle of Lime Vardbjärg Shareholders Edition IV is between 4 and 6 years old.

Nose: Quite oaky at first. Vanilla and cinnamon. Light summer fruits. Darker notes of caramel and .. hmm grape juice, with time. Ginger and cardamom. Develops nicely in the glass.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. This is a spicy dram on the palate. A touch of rawness at first, it does reveal that it is a young whisky. The virgin oak is certainly making itself known as well. Lots of cinnamon and fizzy ginger. Vanilla and ripe apples.

Finish: Medium long. The spices release their tight grip and we have a more relaxed flow of cinnamon, nutmeg, white sugar and vanilla. Ripe apples - honey roasted.

Comment: Again a very solid, young whisky from Gotland Whisky.
