Grant's Elementary O Oxygene 8 YO
Grant's Elementary O Oxygene 8 YO, 40 %
The whisky of the day is Grant's Elementary O Oxygene 8 YO, a blended grain whisky.
Here is what they say about this product at William Grant:
"The 8th element is oxygen. Lifted carefully from the spirit during our unique vacuum distillation process - oxygen gives this grain whisky its silky smoothness. Matured for at least eight years in ex-Bourbon American oak casks, Grant’s Elementary Oxygen is deliciously sweet, creamy and crisp."
You can pick up a bottle on Travel retail or online at around GBP 35.
Nose: Indeed very smooth and mild on approach. Soft vegetal and earthy notes in the background. Vanilla and pears.
Taste: Medium body. Pepper, vanilla and ginger. A fizzy, spicy creaminess.
Finish: Medium long finish. Softer and sweeter now, but also a bit more well-defined. Like it is coming into focus towards the end. I do like the finishing notes of creamy, vanilla ice-cream with tinned fruit cocktail.
Comments: A light and sweet dram.
