Glengoyne White Oak Single Malt Whisky

Glengoyne White Oak Single Malt Whisky, NAS, 48%

How cool is this? A Glengoyne exclusively matured in 1st fill ex-bourbon and virgin American oak casks. Not a single ex-sherry cask in sight! Which is quite unusual for Glengoyne, and I love chances like this where we get to try a single malt approaching form a different angle than what we are usually presented with.

The Glengoyne White Oak Single Malt Whisky is available in Norway at NOK 980 (18782001).

Nose: Rich and fruit-forward, featuring orchard fruits and creamy vanilla. The maltiness adds depth with a balanced sweetness, and over time, warm hints of cinnamon and oak emerge.

Taste: Medium body with an upfront hit of white pepper and nutmeg, followed by a gentle nuttiness. Toasted oak and burnt caramel bring in a slightly roasted, bittersweet layer.

Finish: Medium to short, light and creamy with lingering fruitiness. The pepper-driven spice lends a dry edge, finishing with a soft floral touch.

Comment: A lovely nose, though the palate could use a bit more complexity.

Score 84/100
