A couple of weeks ago I got to visit GlenDronach Distillery. During the day I got to taste the available hand-filled options, and I ended up loving both of them and of course brought bottles back home with me. Here is the ex-PX Puncheon expression.
Distilled 2013-05-03, bottled 2024-06-18. Matured in a single ex-PX sherry puncheon (cask #401-104).
Nose: Perfection! A balanced blend of exotic dried fruits, vanilla notes, and light spices. Continues to develop in the glass, showcasing complexity and refinement. Hints of dark chocolate and prune juice.
Taste: Super rich and exceptionally smooth. Rich fruitiness is tempered and enhanced by lively spices. Honey and subtle oaky spices add depth.
Finish: Long and evolving, with dried fruits becoming increasingly prominent. Dark and intense, featuring prunes, dates, juicy raisins, nuts, and floral honey.
Comment: An amazing dram!
