My first ever review of a single malt whisky from Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery. The distillery started production in early summer 2016, with help and guidance from Dr. Jim Swan. Then they released their first whisky in Autumn 2019.

The Filey Bay Flagship is matured exclusively in ex-bourbon casks.

Nose: Creamy vanilla and light maltiness greet you immediately, accompanied by orchard fruits. The profile is light and clean, featuring notes of pears and pineapple in simple syrup.

Taste: Medium-bodied with flavors of ripe apples and pears, accented by a sprinkling of powdered sugar and cinnamon. The pineapple note reappears, with a faint hint of salt lingering in the background.

Finish: The finish is short, maintaining a light and fruity character but fading rather quickly. Vanilla and mint make a subtle appearance at the end.

Comment: Delightfully light, but fleeting.
