I present to you the Craigellachie 17 YO. This is one of the core range product from the Speyside distillery Craigellachie. It has been matured in American oak casks, and that is all the details they specify.

Nose: Shy on the nose. You really have to coax forth the aromas here. With time it presents itself as fruity, with notes of vanilla, apples and tropical fruit. I also get coffee, chocolate latte, and earthy cocoa nibs.
Taste: Medium body. The same fruitiness as found on the nose - apples and tropical fruits. Vanilla and pepper. Hints of smokiness. Rich caramel, and the same coffee and chocolate notes I finally found on the nose.
Finish: Medium long finish (at a stretch). Vanilla and light sweetness now. Still with the coffee and cocoa nibs.
Comment: Solid. Period.
