A bit late for Christmas maybe, but it is still a great whisky. The Bunnahabhain 1997 16 YO Christmas 2013 is a release by independent bottler Malts of Scotland.

This whisky was distilled in September 1997, and bottled in November 2013. It was matured in a sherry hogshead (cask #MoS13060), and the total outturn was 248 bottles.

The Bunnahabhain 1997 16 YO Christmas 2013 was available for sale in Sweden but has now sold out. You might be able to find it online somewhere, but I doubt it. However, if you come across any other independent bottling of a peated Bunnahabhain from 1997 it is well worth a taste. They are usually very, very good!

Nose (22/25): Warm, fruity, and maritime. Ashes and fiery fun!

Taste (22/25): Peppery and fiery at first. Rich and creamy mouth-feel. Ashes and salt, mixed with dark fruits. Mild sherry notes, but it stays in the background.

Finish (23/25): Ashes, pepper, salt and some dark fruits. A hint of caramel. With water is becomes dry - one of the big mysteries of life I guess... Leave the water, enjoy as is. This is lovely stuff.

Balance (22/25): A lovely peated Bunnahabhain from 1997.
