Nordic Whisky #104 - Braunstein E:7
Braunstein E:7, NAS, 60,2 %
This is the fourth and last review from me on whiskies from Danish distillery Braunstein for a little while. Here is the Braunstein E:7. Again matured in a bourbon cask, just like the E:6. This expression was bottled in November 2015, with a total outturn of 300 bottles (500 ml each). This is again a peated expression.
I have previously reviewed the annual Edition releases from 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
The Braunstein E:7 is still available to buy at DKK 1850 from the distillery shop online.
Expect to see the Braunstein E:8 released sometime in December 2016.
Nose: Unsalted caramel popcorn, vanilla, red berries, a bit lighter on the nose than for instance the e:6. Light fruitiness, and medium sweetness, would say. The peat is very mild on the nose.
Taste: Smooth and rich mouthfeel. Rich honey, toffee caramel and minty herbs.
Finish: Medium long finish. Cool and refreshing. The mintiness stays till the end. More herbs are added to the mix, as well as cut grass, ginger avd vanilla.
Comments: Sweet, rich and full on herbal! The peatiness is very mild.
