Distilled August 2012, bottled 2021. Matured in eight American oak hogsheads, and limited to 3688 bottles. The independent bottler behind this product is Global Whisky Limited.

“Concept 8 is a series of limited edition scotch whiskies selected from various distilleries throughout Scotland. These are all matured for 8 years and bottled at 40.8 % ABV.”

The Blair Athol 2012 8 YO Concept 8 Release 1 goes on sale in Norway this week at NOK 709 (14543301).

Nose: Light, fruity and a little oaky on first sniff. Strawberries and malt. With time also vanilla, light citrus and a hint of green.

Taste: Medium body. Vanilla and orchard fruits. Medium sweetness. It does dry up a fair bit. White pepper and hints of oak.

Finish: Medium to short finish. Drier still now. More white pepper. Green herbs. Chewing gum. Wet oak planks.

Comment: Confusingly oaky - but not astringent.
