Bivrost Yggdrasil 2024, 4 YO, 46%

Matured in “Oloroso seasoned and in-house charred casks”. This is the first core range product from Aurora Spirits, and this first batch (the 2024 release) is limited to 9009 bottles. The Yggdrasil is slightly peated, with the malt makeup being Pilsener Malt (Planet and Popino Nordic barley) and a little Peated Distillers Malt (55 ppm). For more details see the official product page.

The Bivrost Yggdrasil 2024 goes on sale on Wednesday this week at NOK 750 (18750602).

Nose: Toasted oak and sun-warmed oranges lead the way, evolving into notes of chocolate, nuts, and a hint of bitter orange marmalade.

Taste: Medium-bodied, with a peppery start. Toasted oak and dark chocolate follow, complemented by hints of orange peel lightly dusted with soot. Dry in character.

Finish: Relatively short, with lingering milk chocolate, white pepper, and subtle orange notes.

Comment: Smooth and balanced, with a touch of zest.
