I continue my review of the brand new core range from Highland distillery Balblair. The Balblair 15 YO has initially been matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished in 1st fill Spanish oak butts.

The Balblair 15 YO will be launched in Norway on Friday September 6, and it will sell for NOK 950. You can also buy it in the UK at around GBP 73.

Nose: A lot more fruity than the 12 YO. The citrus and the apples are still here, but now there's the added depth of dried fruits. With time a delightful and delicate vanilla sugar sweetness increase. Nutty chocolate as well.

Taste: Medium to full-bodied. Rich and with a dominant fruitiness - dried fruits, apples and citrus. Creamy vanilla. 

Finish: Medium to long finish. A fine touch of spices on the finish. The creaminess remains. Honey and vanilla ice cream.

Comment: A real treat. So sweet and charming. It really develops well in the glass.
