AnCnoc 22 YO
AnCnoc 22 YO, 46 %
The AnCnoc 22 YO from Knockdhu Distillery is a relatively new release. It was released earlier this year, and came to market in Sweden in June 2015. It has been matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, with a slight majority on the sherry casks. We should therefore expect a bit more sherry influence here than on the AnCnoc 18 YO.
You can get your hands on a bottle of AnCnoc 22 YO in Sweden at SEK 1299 (8525401), and online in the UK at around GBP 67.
Nose (22/25): Very soft approach on this one. Light notes of dried fruits with a sprinkling of powdered sugar. Hints of herbs and a whiff of smoke. I pick up a clear nuttiness as well. Even given time it remains rather 'shy'.
Taste (23/25): Quite the spicy attack on the palate. Rich and full mouthfeel. More sherry notes here than on the nose. Nuts and marzipan. Really nice.
Finish (22/25): Sweeter now, and the marzipan runs the show, accompanied by notes of honey and something slightly floral. Rich and long finish.
Balance (22/25): A very nice dram indeed. There is a clear and noticeable step up from the AnCnoc 18 YO that I reviewed recently.
