Amrut 6 YO Peated Port Pipe Single Cask #2712
Amrut 6 YO Peated Port Pipe Single Cask #2712, 60 %
We all know Amrut by now. They consistently release quality single malt from their distillery in India.
Here is a single cask release, matured in a port pipe (cask #2712). Confusingly enough there has been two previous Amrut Peated Port Pipe Cask #2712 releases; one 4 YO in 2013 and a 5 YO in 2016. Both bottled at 59 % ABV. I wonder if it is the same cask that has been reused for finishing? Anywho..
This whisky was distilled in December 2013 and bottled in August 2020. The outturn was 468 bottles.
The Amrut 6 YO Peated Port Pipe Single Cask #2712 will be released in Norway in May at NOK 2649 (12902301).
Nose: Oak and wood smoke is what first strikes me here. Tomato plants on fire. Again very well integrated. You can bury your nose in this and not guess at the 60 % ABV. With time more earthy smokiness, as well as vanilla and white pepper. Cut grass and dry hay.
Taste: Super smooth and thus highly dangerous given the high ABV. This is scarily drinkable. Honey sweet ashes and soot. Orchard fruits. Cracked pepper corns. Then a layer of deeper, more earthy notes. Wet leaves and cut grass.
Finish: Medium long finish. Pepper, soot, honey. Very creamy / oily in character. Rich and deep sweetness. Not overly peaty, but enough to leave a distinct mark all the way to the finish line.
Comment: Another delightful Amrut.
