Here is a first for me, a whisky matured in sake casks. The Akashi 3 YO Sake Cask is a new product from Eigashima Shuzo (Akashi or White Oak).
This is a limited release of 972 bottles, and it was bottled in 2019.

Nose: A rich nose with tempered sweetness. Notes of wine, vanilla and tropical fruits. A deep sweetness that is very appealing. Floral notes in the background.
Taste: Full bodied and that is no understatement. Coffee, chocolate and white wine. The deep sweetness is here as well. White pepper, malt and mild notes of ginger.
Finish: Medium to long finish. Waves of sweet tropical fruits and sublime, sweet white wines.
Comment: Surprisingly complex and with a finish that is near impossible at 3 YO.
