Woven Homemade

Woven Homemade, NAS, 46.4%

Time for another blended whisky from Woven. Here is what they say on the official product page :

“A pair of 8-year-old Speyside single malt whiskies provide the depth, vibrancy, and character that we wanted in the blend, and a single-grain whisky is sourced from a famous grain distillery in Edinburgh. The malt components make up over 70% of the blend, echoing a famous claim by a discontinued brand close to our hearts that boasted ‘the highest malt content of any blend.’”

The Woven Homemade is available in Norway at NOK 670 (17228402).

Nose: Bright and invigorating, with an initial burst of zesty citrus and tropical fruits; mango, pineapple, and papaya; layered over deeper dried fruit sweetness. A well-defined malty core keeps things grounded, and yes, this could easily dupe even the most seasoned blend radar. With time, it evolves to reveal honey, nuts, and a mild herbal edge.

Taste: Full-bodied and confidently composed. Surprisingly dry at first, with whispers of white pepper and oaky spice, before the fruit parade returns. Citrus, dried mango, and a drizzle of honey.

Finish: Medium in length, offering a playful reprise of the fruitiness, now mellowed and slightly sweeter. That green note returns in the end; grassy and gently herbal.

Comment: Layered subtlety.
