Nordic Whisky #163 - Thy Fad No. 4 Kræn Klemme
Thy Fad No. 4 Kræn Klemme, age, 52 %
It is time to look more closely at another release from Danish distillery Nordisk Brænderi. Today my attention turns to the Thy Fad No. 4 Kræn Klemme (cask #4).
This whisky was distilled on 2012-12-10, matured in a bourbon cask until 2016-07-15. The total outturn was 95 bottles at 50 cl each. The whisky is made using ecological Imperial barley.
The Thy Fad No. 4 Kræn Klemme is sold out.
Nose: Fresher and lighter than the Thy cask #2a. It also appears younger. I find citrus notes and a faint alcohol bite. Vanilla for sure, but then followed by a touch of cucumber. Hmm. Mustard seeds. With time chocolate, chocolate milk and coffee beans.
Taste: Medium body and a slightly raw mouthfeel. Spicy, with pepper and ginger. Chocolate, malt, and a mild oakiness.
Finish: Medium long finish. It does not really develop a whole lot more, except for turning dry-ish. I find it a bit raw still.
Comments: A fine, young whisky, but not quite on par with the fantastic sherry cask on their first release (see review).
Score (83/100)
