The Kurayoshi Pure Malt Whisky
The Kurayoshi Pure Malt Whisky, NAS, 43 %
This is the second product I have reviewed from Japanese producer Matsui Shuzo Distillery this week. I have previously looked the Fujimi Blended Japanese Whisky. Again this is more of a "Japanese" whisky than a Japanese whisky. It is a blended malt, combining mainly Scotch single malt with some Japanese single malt. Volcanic-stone-filtered water has been used ion the production as well.
You can buy The Kurayoshi Pure Malt Whisky in Norway starting this Friday at NOK 799,90 (10488301). You can also buy it in the UK at around GBP 88.
Nose:White pepper and a light fruitiness. Light honey character. A bit nondescript.
Taste: Medium body. Feels more rich than on the nose. Chewy and spicy. Pepper, chili and raw ginger. Hints of sherry sweetness.
Finish: Medium long finish. Milder now, and sweeter. More dried fruits and cinnamon.
Comments: A fairly decent whisky, and for the price it is certainly something you should give a chance.
