Talisker 2008 6 YO Hepburn's Choice
Talisker 2008 6 YO Hepburn's Choice, 46 %
When I wrote about Bladnoch from Creative Whisky Company last week, I told you that was my last tasting note from Cinderella. Well, I was wrong, I have another one.
Today I will give you my tasting note on the youngest Talisker I have ever tasted, a 6 YO Talisker. The whisky is released from the independent bottler Langside Distillers in their series Hepburn's Choice (launched 2014). Langside Distillers belong to the independent bottler Hunter Laing & Co.
The whisky was distilled in 2008, bottled in 2014 and has been matured in refill hogshead (probably bourbon) which gave 362 bottles. The whiskies in the series Hepburn's Choice is usually a little younger than the whiskies in the Old Malt Cask series. Further they are usually single cask whiskies bottled at 46 %.
Talisker 2008 6 YO Hepburn's Choice was released in Sweden 2 March 2015 at SEK 719 (item number 84528). Unfortunately it is not available in Norway.
Nose (22/25): A soft and delicate smoke. Vanilla. The first impression was really good! Some wet oak. Mussels and salt.
Taste (21/25): The taste was very gentle and smooth. Vanilla and fudge. Salt. The smoke was hiding in the background.
Finish (20/25): Salt and pepper. Nutty, fat and oily. I hardly noticed any smoke at all.
Balance (20/25): This was really a different Talisker. It jumped around a little bit, but I liked it.
Score (83/100)
