Svenska Eldvatten Vintage 1994 Sherry Matured

Here is a follow-up to my review of the Vintage 1979 from Svenska Eldvatten. This time I am testing their Svenska Eldvatten Vintage 1994 Sherry Matured. Again we are talking about a blended whisky that was "vatted at birth", back in August 1994. Then this blend was matured in a single sherry butt (cask #SE02) for 19 years, before it was bottled in October 2013. The total outturn was 619 bottles.

This blend will be released in Norway on May 2, 2014, at a price of NOK 1279 (item number not known). You can also purchase this in Sweden at SEK 975 (item number 85833).

Nose (22/25): Chocolate, banana, vanilla, dried fruits, and old fashioned ice cream cone biscuit. Banana chocolate and Crème brûlée with candied sugar. There's the faintest hint of a burnt match here, but it works well as an added "spice".

Taste (22/25): Sparkling, sweet with lots of ginger and fruity notes. Mild caramel. Really nice and well-rounded sweetness.

Finish (23/25): Long and lingering, the sparkly, gingery sweetness is ever present. It is silky smooth, and even more sugary towards the end.

Balance (22/25): I must say I am very impressed again by what Tommy and Peter at Svenska Eldvatten are releasing to the market. This is quality stuff!
