So, distillery 52 is Pulteney, and this is only the 29th cask bottled by Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) from that distillery. I was very happy to grab a bottle of this, as it sold out in seconds.
The SMWS 52.29 The Wicker Dram was distilled on 2001-06-18, and matured in a 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel. The total outturn was 171 bottles when it was bottled in 2019.
Nose: Lovely notes of tropical fruits. Salty caramel. Assorted nuts. Dusty attic, filled with old books. In the background sea salt and white pepper.
Taste: Full bodied and big like a Hero 6. Creamy mouthfeel. Herbal, fresh and fruity at the same time. White pepper and lime. Earthy notes in the background.
Finish: Long finish. Remains both fruity and herbal throughout. Would you believe me if I said baked potato skin with a sprinkling of sea salt?
