The first core range product is finally here from Swedish distillery Smögen. Almost exactly 10 years after the first cask was filled at the distillery another massive milestone is reached.

The Smögen 100 Proof Sherry Quarters will be released in batches going forward. The first batch is a vatting of 11 Oloroso Sherry quarter casks. The total outturn was 2436 bottles.

You can buy the Smögen 100 Proof Sherry Quarters in Norway starting August 27 at NOK 1080 (12066002). You can also buy this whisky in Sweden at SEK 795 (4081802).

Nose: Dried fruits, dark and mysterious pine woods, ominous wild fires in the distance. A clearing in the darkness - a small offering of sweet berries and assorted fruits, with a side order of almonds and creamy vanilla.

Taste: Rich, malty and sweet. Lots of chili and pepper here. Sichuan pepper and smoky Ancho chili. Dried fruits - all soft and delicate - create a welcome and balanced contrast.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Peppery still. Rich sweetness with more fruits, dried and fresh. It really mellows out and lands very comfortably.

Comment: Pär did it again, which is no surprise at all really.
