Smögen 2013 6 YO for Clydesdale 15th Anniversary
Smögen 2013 6 YO for Clydesdale 15th Anniversary, 61.1 %
Distilled December 2013, matured in a 1st fill sherry quarter cask (cask# 77/2013), and bottled in October 2020. A total of 192 bottles resulted from that whole procedure.
Nose: Oooh, this is the Smögen I know and love. Sweet wood smoke - pine forest on fire. Pine resin. Sweet summer fruits. Softly spices dried fruits. Delicate sherry notes. Pär has always known how to pick his sherry casks - never had a single bad sherry maturation experience with Smögen. With time delicately smoky and herbal honey.
Taste: Rich, full bodied and sugary sweet. Then the pine forest wood fire hits me again. Sweet lord! It’s not too sweet though, please understand. Fruity, spicy and just plain fun! Fizzy, sparkly, fudge-y, caramel-y, honey cake-y with lemon and green herbs.
Finish: Medium long finish, which is plenty. Lovely sweetness - teasing and enticing. It has tangents that are both dry, bitter, sour, fresh and fruity.
Comment: I have no idea what this baby sold for, but I can guarantee you that you got your money’s worth and more! Big fan of both Smögen and Clydesdale. Congrats to all involved!
