Distilled 2004 and bottled 2021. This Diageo Special Release from Highland distillery Royal Lochnagar has been matured in “exclusively refill casks”, American and European oak.

You can still buy the Royal Lochnagar 16 YO (Special Releases 2021) in Norway at NOK 2450 (13734701).

Nose: Warm and welcoming nose. Creamy vanilla, demerara sugar, warm toffee, chocolate mousse. Sporadic whiffs of soft oakiness. With time more fruity - some citrus as well as ripe, red apples.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. Love the warm spiciness. Dry-ish notes of black and white pepper. Hints of ginger. Some oakiness here as well.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Added fruits on the finish, in addition to the tempered spiciness and oaky notes.

Comment: Delightful!
