This is the firsDDt release in Pokeno Distillery’s Exploration Series. Matured in ex-bourbon casks then finished in Totara wood casks. Totara is a local species of wood on New Zealand, hard as oak but more aromatic.

The Pokeno Totara Cask goes on sale in Norway next week at NOK 1490 (17501601).

Nose: Mild and inviting, with gentle notes of fruit and a soft hint of oak.

Taste: Medium-bodied, fruity with a touch of oaky spice, white pepper, and a playful hint of fizzy strawberries.

Finish: Medium, turning darker and richer with a slightly unusual sweetness that adds intrigue.

Comment: Quirky and sweet, with twist at the end.
