OK, i’m getting ready to “burn through” a whole lot of Octomore this month. Here is the Octomore 08.4.

This is the official blurb:

Although all of the spirit in Octomore 08.4 is eight years old just 20% has been held full-term in virgin oak. 80% was originally introduced to American oak, first-fill ex-Bourbon casks, before being transferred into the European virgin oak that had previously held Octomore 07.4.

The Octomore Masterclass_08.4 was distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2017. It was limited to 12000 bottles.

Nose: Highly phenolic and softly oaky. Wood fires all around. Earthy cinnamon and vanilla. With time also licorice and coconut. Very balanced and fine.

Taste: Creamy and full bodied. The peat and smoke is intense enough to almost feel searing, almost bitter. Earthy peat and pepper.

Finish: Medium long finish. Salt and pepper. Still very peaty. Still earthy. Camphor and cinnamon. Fizzy ginger. Sweet honey mixed with soot in the end.
