Nordic Whisky #254 - Bergslagens The Art Collection: Sauternes Cask
Bergslagens The Art Collection: Sauternes Cask, ~7 YO, 54 %
Distilled in 2011 by not closed distillery Grythyttan, and bottled in February 2019 by Bergslagens in Sweden.
This whisky was matured in a 225 litre Sauternes cask (cask #243), and the release is limited to 492 bottles (50 cl). It clocks in at a peat level of 50 ppm.
This is the third and last product in The Art Collection, as far as I know.
The Bergslagens The Art Collection: Sauternes Cask was launched for sale in mid April 2019, and is still available to buy in Sweden at SEK 992 (277302).
Nose: The sweetest and lightest nose of the three whiskies in this series. Vanilla and a light oakiness. Fruit drops coated with icing sugar. Sweet wood smoke.A touch earthy, but not nearly as much as the previous two.
Taste: Medium body and full-on sweetness. Sugary, fruity and vanilla-y (huh?). Sugary ashes and sweet wood smoke - it appears less smoky than the other two. Nuts and oak.
Finish: Medium long finish. Drier and greener on the finish. I also find chocolate, artificial sweetener and oak.
Comment: An OK dram, but the finish disrupted the harmony.
Score 81/100
